    Shooter's 2013 Mock Draft Empty Shooter's 2013 Mock Draft

Post by Shooter Sat Nov 03, 2012 4:51 am

I made a mock draft of the first round. Was going to do more but it's really time consuming lol. These selections are based off of team needs plus the players' height, weight, production, and draft stories. Hope you guys enjoy.

*Please note that trades and FA signings will make an impact on who teams draft. I will try to update it as best as I can before the draft.*

    _______________________________________________________________________________
1st pick (Vikings) - QB Austin Duncan (Nevada)
Reason: The Vikings owner has made it clear that they want to draft Ausin Duncan in the 2013 draft. Who would blame them? This guy is starter material from day 1!
    _______________________________________________________________________________
2nd pick (Eagles) - QB Jordan Norwell (Louisville)
Reason: The Eagles are in desperate need of a RG right now, but I think they'll address that in the 2nd or 3rd round. It's a disappointment to know that they won't be able to snag Austin Duncan, but Jordan Norwell isn't someone to pass on and he's also able to help a team out right away. I can't see the Eagles letting Nick Foles be the starting QB this year, so Jordan Norwell SHOULD be an Eagle in the upcoming season.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
3rd pick (Jaguars) - HB Jamel Ramsey (Southern Miss)
Reason: The Jaguars placed Maurice Jones-Drew on the trading block and will more than likely be trading him away before the draft. This to me suggests they will be going after one in the draft. Jamel Ramsey would be the perfect replacement to MJD and would fit into the Jaguars offense very nicely.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
4th pick (Ravens) - WR Jamal Bonner (Missouri)
Reason: This is the most exciting wide receiver to come out of the draft since Calvin "Megatron" Johnson and he's practically a clone of him. The Ravens just recently traded away Anquan Boldin and although they received Greg Little, they should not even hesitate to draft this future Pro Bowl Wide Receiver.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
5th pick (Chargers) - SS Mike Gates (Florida)
Reason: The Chargers are a team that only have a couple positions that they need filled to be a great team. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they trade down for more value with this pick. But for right now, they have the pick. This is a deep year for corners and they could address that in the 2nd or 3rd round. The Chargers are in serious need of a Strong Safety and there isn't another Strong Safety in the draft that looks as NFL ready as Mike Gates does.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
6th pick (Seahawks) - WR Sean Oduh (Penn State)
Reason: The Seahawks could also trade down for more value with this pick as well. They are in need of a center and a wide receiver. None of the centers in this draft are worth a 6th overall pick so I see them going with Sean Oduh from Penn State. Guy has great size at 6'4" and would be a great #2 receiver as he develops while having Sidney Rice at the #1 spot.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
7th pick (Titans) - Demetre King (Oklahoma St.)
Reason: If it wasn't for teams' serious needs in other areas, Demetre King could have went first overall. I really can't find anything bad to say about this guy. The Titans are going to go insane just by realizing he's still available with the 7th pick and jump at it immediately. Especially because they need a Defensive End this off-season.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
8th pick (Bills) - LOLB Asa Davidson (UCLA)
Reason: The Bills have quite a few holes to patch up this off-season and Asa Davidson has to be looking nice at 8th overall. He was a big part of the 2 time national championship winning UCLA team on defense. That cannot be overlooked.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
    9th pick - (49ers) - RT Jonathan Lewis (Arizona)
Reason: The 49ers are pretty well set and really only need to address their offensive line. Drafting Jonathan Lewis would be a wise choice. Bill Parcels wasn't wrong when he said: "The game is won in the trenches!"
    _______________________________________________________________________________
10th pick (Falcons) - LT Keenan Vincent (Montana)
Reason: The Falcons have four first round picks in this year's draft and should be able to take whoever they want this year. Kudos to their owner who got them so many picks. Keenan Vincent is one of the best offensive lineman anyone has ever seen come to the NFL and it'd be silly for the Falcons to pass on him seeing as how they need a Left Tackle.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
11th pick (Rams) - RT Darian Robinson (Texas A&M)
Reason: The Rams are in a rebuilding phase and they need help on their offensive line. Darian Robinson will greatly improve their not-so-good line and help the crazy running back tandem of Darren McFadden and Steven Jackson get going.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
12th pick (Raiders) - HB D'Cota Bell (UCLA)
Reason: The Raiders can't resist drafting a guy that has as much talent as D'Cota Bell. Plus they draft fast players, it's just what they do.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
13th pick (Giants) - WR Tercel Dean (Arizona)
Reason: The Giants owner must have been doing acid when he signed the Kicker and Punter to such large contracts. After not being able to resign Cruz, the Giants should look for a replacement and Tercel Dean will shine with Eli Manning throwing him the ball.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
14th pick (Steelers) - LG Kain Wilcoxson (Nebraska)
Reason: The Steelers are one of the most complete teams going into the draft and they really only have one weak spot, Left Guard. Drafting Kain Wilcoxson will 100% certainly help the Steelers in their hopes of a playoff making season. Hopefully injuries don't hurt them like they did last season.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
15th pick (Bengals) - CB Andrew Brown (California)
Reaason: The Bengals should be looking to add a young Corner Back because the majority of their corners are old or getting old. No other corner in the NCAA has produced as well as Andrew Brown. He has great size, speed, and his production doesn't lie.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
16th pick (Texans) - FS Arik Casher (Texas)
Reason: After hearing that he wouldn't be the top corner taken in the draft, Arik Casher switched his position to Free Safety. A lot were left wondering why he would ever imagine doing such a thing, but it is what it is. Arik Casher is easily the best Free Safety in the draft and would have been one of the best corners. The Texans need someone to play Free Safety for them and there's no better guy than Arik Casher.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
17th pick (Chiefs) - RE Willie Burns (Arizona)
Reason: The Super Bowl Champion Chiefs may or may not be hurting this season after losing some guys to Free Agency and trading away some players. They need players at numerous positions and these problems should be addressed in the draft. Some teams are wary of picking up Willie Burns with their picks becuase he tweaked his hamstring at the combine, but that shouldn't stop the Chiefs from selecting him with the 17th pick. Sometimes freak accidents happen and this guy will be a stud in the NFL. Plus he has a great name.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
18th pick (Bears) - LOLB Leonard Washington (Maryland)
Reason: The Bears have been known for their defense for quite some time now and while they still are a great defensive team, they need to improve at Left Outside LineBacker. Some consider Washington to be way too undersized to play in the NFL. While that may turn off some teams, the Bears should view this as a great oppurtunity for drafting a great LineBacker with the 18th overall pick. Plus there's only 1 other LineBacker in the entire draft clss that has produced better than Washington and he's already long gone by now.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
19th pick (Falcons) - CB Julian Brown (Iowa State)
Reason: The Falcons have the luxury of picking 4 guys in the first round and they already addressed the position they needed most with their first pick. They select Julian Brown here to help bolster their defensive backs. Julian Brown is the second best producing corner in the draft, behind Andrew Brown. These two could be related although it hasn't been confirmed by anyone.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
20th pick (Bucs) - TE Dylan Brown (SMU)
Reason: Since there is a lack of talent this year at the Right Outside LineBacker position, the Bucs should grab a Tight End with this pick. It seems more and more Tight Ends are getting massive amounts of targets in the NFL compared to what they got a few years ago. Just last year a lot of the top receivers were Tight Ends. Josh Freeman would love to have another person to throw to and Dylan Brown would make an excellent target seeing as how he's 6'5" and weighs 262. He has Pro Bowl written all over him.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
21st pick (Falcons) CB Rodney Maye (Oklahoma)
Reason: The Falcons are planning for the future with this pick. The top 2 corners on the Falcons' roster are 30+ years old and drafting 2 young guys will only help them out. Rodney Maye has great size and although he hasn't produced extremely well in college, will hopefully do well in the NFL.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
22nd pick (Cowboys) DT Andre Jackson (Iowa)
Reason: A lot of people would be shocked to see Andre Jackson fall this late into the draft. Scouts think this Defensive Tackle should be a top five pick but I just don't see it with how many other positions that teams need. Teams needing other positions will cause the best Defensive Tackle to come out of the draft since Ndamukong Suh fall to the Cowboys. Jay Ratliff isn't getting any younger and he's rapidly losing his pass rushing ability. Ratliff could possibly be benched after Andre Jackson comes to America's favorite team.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
23rd pick (Raiders) - RE Jeremy Whiteside (Penn State)
Reason: The Raiders shouldn't need any help on offense after selecting D'Cota Bell and should really focus on their defense. If they aren't going to sign a Right End in Free Agency, this is the guy you'd want on the team. He's going to be a solid Right End in the league and will start most definitely.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
24th pick (Dolphins) - WR Hosey Leslie (Pittsburgh)
Reason: I think it's clear that the Dolphins really want a true #1 receiver. And with the other receivers gone, there doesn't seem to be another receiver that's better than Leslie to fit the role. He's only 20 years old and was one of the top 4 producers at the Wide Receiver position. In a pretty deep league of Wide Receivers, I think that says a lot about the guy. Dolphins could also go the Corner Back route, but a receiver will really help Tannehil in the passing game and hopefully open more things up for Reggie on the ground as well.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
25th pick (Bengals) - HB T.J. Morant (Ohio State)
Reason: T.J. Morant reminds some of Maurice Jones-Drew. And we all know the Bengals had interest in Maurice Jones-Drew. Maybe Morant is the second best thing? He has close to the same size as MJD, that's for sure.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
26th pick (Saints) - C Josh Morgan (Rutgers)
Reason: The Saints need to get a good Center to protect their star Quarter Back, Drew Brees. It's been said that Josh Morgan is the only Center worth a first round pick in this draft. And the Saints can't afford to not take him here. Drew Brees will be a happy camper with this pick.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
27th pick (Colts) - CB Shalden Wynn (TCU)
Reason: The Colts hope to improve their not-so-stellar secondary with this pick. Wynn played very well in collage and he's the ideal size for a corner. The Colts will be much better on defense with this pick.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
28th pick (Panthers) - WR Jordan Gray
Reason: Cam Newton needs someone to throw the ball to if he's going to be an elite QB. Jordan Gray gives off the vibe of being a good receiver that won't drop many passes. That could keep Cam Newton from getting frustrated in games. Gray seems to have decent size as well and should be a very good #2 receiver opposite of Steve Smith.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
29th pick (Falcons) - QB Jonathan Shuman (Texas A&M)
Reason: No one is sold on Vince Young and with all of the picks that the Falcons have they might as well replace him or get a decent back up at least. Shuman could easily start on some teams right away, hopefully the Falcons will let him play if they select him.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
30th pick (Patriots) - TE Eric Derise (Texas State)
Reason: The Patriots love using Tight Ends and taking Derise with this pick will 100% positively ensure that the Patriots have the best combination of Tight Ends in the NFL. It could be insane for them to select a Tight End here, but they really don't have much more to improve on.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
31st pick (Cardinals) FS Shyquawn Scott (Notre Dame)
Reason: The Cardinals suffered a nightmare causing loss in the Super Bowl and hope to make it back there to get the win this time around. That being said, they currently have a young Free Safety but no one is sure if that'll pan out. Drafting Shyquawn Scott will give them an option to turn to for a decent starter or as a great back up.
    _______________________________________________________________________________
32nd pick (Chiefs) - RG Corey Brownell (Rutgers)
Reason: The Chiefs need a Right Guard pretty badly and Corey Brownell could be the answer. He's got great size and seems to have played well in college. Him being on the offensive line could really send the team in the right direction.
