    Offseason/Draft Empty Offseason/Draft

Post by Dolfinley Wed Dec 19, 2012 6:24 pm

With the Super Bowl taking place on Friday, I've discussed with some of our members about putting in a plan for the offseason and draft.

Here's a tentative outline of what I'm thinking. This can be adjusted of course.

After Super Bowl (Friday afternoon): Advance to resignings

Saturday morning 8 a.m.: Advance to FA round 1

Saturday night 8 p.m.: Advance to FA round 2

Sunday afternoon 12 noon: Advance to FA round 3

Sunday night 7 p.m.: End FA

    Sunday night 8 p.m.: Draft

Hawk said he would put his input in this later, but if we could start getting opinions now it would help.

    Thanks fellas.

Also, if you're voting no, you should probably post your reasoning. Right now, it's 7-1 in favor of, so it would help if you're voting no to share your side. I'm sure Hawk will go with the majority opinion as we did last year.

I voted no because I literally would not be able to participate in any part of the offseason if we did it like this. I work 12 hour shifts. After the Superbowl I will be at work or getting ready to go to work ALL NIGHT, so I will miss all of resignings. I might could get some of the FA first week before I go back to work that night, then I would miss all of the 2nd week of FA, then might be able to get the 3rd week again before work, then I miss all of the draft. WTF? 12 hour advances are fucked up.

Like I said, we could fluctuate this some. Also, I'd be happy to do your bidding for you.

fluctuate what? You were talking about changing times. It's not necessarily the times that are killing me. It's the 12 hour advances. I work 12 hours mfer actually 12.5 cause I get unpaid lunch, but there is more time spent ... getting ready for work, driving to work, working over if the mfer that relieves me don't show up. The shit can get long. That's why 18 hour advances were perfect for me. No matter what happened, I knew I would have some time to get in and do my shit. Last season there were a couple of times were I just made the deadline and that was thanks to an 18hr advance. I'm trying to find a way for 12 hour advances to work and I ain't finding it. Somehow som way I'm gonna get fucked.

Alright, I edited the times a bit to help you out since I talked with you about your work schedule and since you're the only one that seemed to have a problem getting in some of the FA advances so far. That's why I said it was imperative to speak up if you voted No. Hopefully that will help some.

Ok mfers, for all you concerned citizens we have worked out a resolution. I will do resigns when I get home then hopefully hawk can advance on time (8am) and I can do week 1 of FA right away so I don't get fucked.

I'm voting no because I have family coming in on Sunday for the holidays. I realize that isn't exactly an excuse but I think its a bit of a kick in the balls to do the draft Sunday night before Christmas. Again, I have family traveling in to town and would probably not be able to participate in the draft. I don't see why we need to rush the offseason in before the weekend is out. At this point what is a couple more days.

Jack, if you aren't able to participate we can work something out to where someone is making your picks for you. We did it last offseason with Urb I think, he just sent a list and the picks were done.

I'm just telling you why i'm voting no. If the draft has to be on sunday night, i'll work something out i guess. judging by the voting it looks like it will be.

We did it for sin last year, and yeah, someone will surely do your picks for you. I offered to make splff's for him, but if he is going to make his, I'll make your picks for you as well.

Preacher, I don't know why these mfers feel the need to rush. All I can think is that a bunch of these mfers ain't got no life lol. Seems logical to me that mfers would SLOW shit down because of the holidays, but these mfers wanna speed shit up lol.

My position on this is that we must have a super majority (2/3) vote to implement such a quick advance schedule for the offseason. I am not going to make the offseason advances that short unless I know that at least 2/3 of our members can make that work. It is not worth it to potentially screw over 10+ members of this league just so that we can advance slightly quicker over a holiday weekend when things are already going to be a bit wonky. More than likely, there will be at least a 2-day period over Christmas when we won't advance at all. Therefore, I see no reason to rush things and fuck over a bunch of people just so we can sit in preseason week one for 2 days over Christmas.

That all said, if 19 people (I'm abstaining so 19/28 is 2/3 majority) vote yes for this time schedule, it will be implemented.

I actually think Christmas and preseason work out well together. We could advance through the preseason the way we have in the past two years, and because they're not necessary games if people have holiday stuff keeping them from playing, it won't hurt anything.

I got no problem with the advance schedule, but the draft at dinner time on Sunday doesn't work for me. I got lots of family here for the holidays and I'm sure we will be having dinner at that time. If we push back the draft an hour or two I'd consider voting yes.

Draft time isn't final. It was just a suggested time from me. We could always move the draft back to 9 pm if it helps.

Yeah. I have no problem with the Saturday schedule but the draft time does not work for me. I think a bit later would make this work for me. But a late night Sunday draft might be a problem for a lot of people. It took a long time last time.
