Grinders Offseason Review Empty Grinders Offseason Review

    Post by Brownsfan23 Tue Nov 06, 2012 5:57 pm

The 2013 offseason for our league has ended, so you know what that means right? Time to see who improved and who didnt improve. DISCLAIMER-This is only the opinion of my own, and please do not take it personal if I didnt write a lot about your team, just means that I didnt see all the moves you made. Also, a R next to player name means rookie. So lets begin

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR8VvzRTa3Gp5ziPBzuGee-ZbIEi8Pq9bYIudkf-2MoalCb7SFT

Offseason additions-CB Marcus Trufant, R CB Julian Brown, R DT Tyrone Stephins
The Bears over the years have been known for their great stout defense, but their secondary could always been improved. They improved this offseason, having Trufant playing alongside Tillman gives them a solid 1-2 at CB. R CB Brown wont be needed right away, but is a solid zone CB who can come in and help with the Bears cover two scheme. R DT Tyrone Stephins is a strong DT who is also quick. Playing with Peppers will only help Stephins growth.

Offseason additions-HB MJD, R HB D'Cota Bell, R WR Akia Green, R CB Rodney Maye

The Bengals made huge improvements by adding Jones-Drew, who can still be a elite RB, and his replacement in waiting in Bell who is all around back with elite speed. WR Akia Greem can catch, run routes, and is fast. Playing alongside AJ Green, Gresham, MJD and Bell gives the Bengals a potent offensive attack. On defense, CB Rodney Maye is a solid man CB who is quick, along with Clements and Hall, Maye gives them an solid nickel CB.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRAkxWAPeV2fQiH5VGmhW6jL1ldyjDqtiy9-CHFy0BP3Fgcvbe6bA
Offseason additions-R LT Kris Scavone,R LOLB Asa Davidson

The Bills struggled last season, but addressed some key areas. Scavone is already a solid pass and run blcoker that will provide immediate help on the line. Davidson, is a solid tackler, and has the ability to get to the QB. Along with Williams, should give the Bills a solid pass rush.

Offseason Additions- RT Brandon Albert, DE Tamba Hali, FS Kerry Rhodes, R HB Bull Griggs

The Broncos had a so-so season last season, so improvements were needed, and they did improve. They solidified their oline with Albert, which should help Osweller as he looks to improve. R HB Bull Griggs is a strong, quick, and can catch. Griggs provides them with another weapon on offense. On defense, they added Hali who is an elite DE/OLB. Alongside Miller and Dumervil, the Broncos can boast a great front seven. In the secondary they added FS Kerry Rhodes who can cover and bring run support.

Offseason Additions- WR Anquan Boldin, HB Michael Turner, LE Pernell McPhee, CB Sean Smith

The Browns started the season off to a great start, going 6-0. They however struggled offensively and finished 10-6, lost the division, and lost in the wildcard. Some changes were made, they moved a solid, but injury prone DqWell Jackon for CB Sean Smith, who is a great man corner to go along with Haden. They also trade for McPhee, who gives the Browns a young power DE along side Sheard, Rubin, and Taylor. On offense, the Browns upgraded their WR core by adding Anquan Boldin, and got Richardson a solid backup in Michael Turner.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRFSeWwUsaQTQXnjp6jxAXg_HswBmZjpw1gNl84gZGI3eISkUM0gA
Offseason Additions-R TE Ryan Johnson, R LE Adam Lansford
Johnson gives them a solid TE who can catch and block, Lansford is a DE who is quick.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT6BgEc8shWeWJjcctZ3FWJ_bxLMPSbnZTc8jB9Q0N3gFWgN7WY
Offseason Additions-R QB Jordan Norwell, WR Braylon Edwards
The Cardinals continued their search for a QB, and got one in Norwell who is a solid short to mid range thrower. Edwards give the Cards another WR to play alongside Fitzgerald.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS95Q_r7MtBTa20-n5S9vPCwF12y4iTzOcxUZ2XfvsQ5h8ZmqYG
Offseason Additions-R HB Jamel Ramsay, LE Robert Geathers, CB Leodis McKelvin
Ramsay gives the Chargers a quick, power back who can compliment Ryan Matthews. Geathers strengthens their dline as a pass rusher. McKelvin is a good CB, and can help in the return game.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSgT4l-Hz2K4QaTlneYhC5OASeoDPjjsGy_YoOO9KAeRgjl1LXn
Offseason Additions- WR Victor Cruz, FS Lamel Seawood
The super bowl champs Kansas City Chiefs, who saw that one coming? With a elite rushing attack behind a solid defense, the Chiefs had a great season. By adding Cruz, they add a elite WR to compliment their rushing attack, and on defense Lamel Seawood is a fast S who can cover.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQaIWP7rtJvRsONNMaw8wuUoi5-kV3AoW0pvz2xowQg5owN1bCY
WR Michael Jenkins, RG Brandon Moore, DE Luis Castillo
The Colts got back into the playoffs last season after a bad season before that. They drafted Andrew Luck and went from their. They added Jenkins who is a solid veteran WR, and Moore who is a solid blocker on the line. Castillo gives them a great power DE, who is also versatile.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQoj4Ds6rMulgEIB8ApD9TeT1NRomlTfl7ITy12xTI-wk9IlS69
Offseason Additions-WR Josh Cribbs, R C Zachary Rothkolber, R MLB Donta Brown

Cribbs is still a decent return guy, and can be a WR when he wants to be. Rothkolber is a solid run blocker who will help Murray find holes. Brown is a quick and big hitter at MLB who can also cover.

Ok guys this is only part one of the review, the rest of the review will be posted later.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQRZMsrvjfvZ3TeLqyId8Ubvsk3d-a03al8VEFCWGsbe5dT_q9yXw
Offseason Additions-R TE Luke Vinal, R RT Darian Robinson, MLB D'Qwell Jackson, CB Antoine Cason, CB Captain Munnerlyn
Dolphins were another team to break out this season in Grinders, starting the season 1-3 before going on a 10 game win streak. They made the playoffs, but lost to Bengals in the 1st round. Vinal is a TE that can catch and run blcok, with Robinson being a solid pass and run blocker, and quick on his feet. They added veteran LB D'Qwell Jackson, which when healthy, will get 100 tackles with his eyes closed. They also upgraded their secondary after they traded Sean Smith by signing Cason and Munnerlyn, two solid CBs.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSiq3FdgwM2OgoBwfrvTRtVWutR-qP0MeUTLrPEcxM-X2_e_1I-lA
Offseason Additions- R QB Danny Martens, R FB Vorheese Brackett, R WR Jamal Bonner
Martens is looking like the starter since Vick was traded in the offseason to the 49ers. Martens has a big arm and is a decent thrower. Jamal Bonner already has elite talent, and gives the Eagles a big receiver to go to. Brackett is a decent run blocker and shifty.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSTmGlDUoOJSc81G4C_wJziquzopgyAY-CirmegxoPuVjWHvBYgHQ
Offseason Additions- R QB Brett Ray, R TE Stephen Jernigan, R LOLB Alonzo Cross, MLB Earl Williams, CB AJ Mims
The Falcons made a lot of moves this offseason to prepare for a rebuild. Ray is a QB who can throw and is mobile. Jernigan is fast, strong, can catch and block. Cross is a quick pass rusher, and Williams is fast, good tackler, and good in coverage.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ1hxy55mjdVo6hNIK9NkgAPJbn1ywXVne2eWMSURFLrv4czrX7sw
Offseason Additions-Michael Vick, WR Andre Johnson, R LT Antonio Baker, R LE Troy Wright, R SS Mike Gates
Vick hopefully gives the 9ers a QB who will perform, especially with Andre coming to the team as well. Johnson, Crabtree, and Davis should be a nice core for Vick. Baker is a tackle who is a solid pass blocker, Wright is a quick on the dline, and Gates is good in zone.
    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSrOcBY_uLyHvYJywZptA9VpiPmNUqZnAMiUOBlXxJSUcF4T3a2
Offseason additions- R FB Emilio Jones, LT Keenan Vincent
Jones is a solid run blocker and Vincent is a solid pass blocker. But let this be a lesson, because the Giants lost Cruz in FA. Dont throw a hissy fit Waytogo

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQZG8wZu9qaNvGRDtS5WBXDrur-9foJ_8S2ZV6TNtE4WaxPqlLG
Offseason Additions-RB Willis McGahee, DE Osi Umeniyora, CB Dre Kirkpatrick, R FS Cordarius Boyd
They traded their elite RB in MJD and top 3 pick to add more depth. In McGahee, they add a solid veteran HB. Osi has lost some with age, but is still a solid DE. Kirkpatrick has all the skills you'd want in a corner, just needs more experience. Boyd is a great tackler at S, should help in run support as well as covering the back of defense.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQCM-CHeHCa-WGAvZ2TQpKpTKXcAQnuLhaujx11pd73gsLUPThx
Offseason Additions-HB Jonathan Stewart, TE Dallas Clark, ROLB Geno Hayes, CB AJ Jefferson
J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS! Too bad the Jet didnt fly this year. Thats why they looked for improvements, first by trading elite CB Darell Revis to fix a lot of problems with the team. In Stewart, they get a RB that can carry the load for their team, and Clark is still a solid TE in the right situation. Hayes is a solid all around LB, and AJ Jefferson provides additional depth at CB.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTblEOmoKz32DGRBk11KhUBXV7MTJsXINFeKaRVhEEj9s9E_zzS
Offseason Additions-WR Johnie Knox, R DT Keith Malone
The Panthers showed big strides last season, and continued to look for improvements. Knox is a solid WR who can get up the field, and Malone is a big and fast DT.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQg50wxLOIi1J6wmP_ru8qnqN_dee-6ojQC0CuDPg0q7cf0q8cv
R WR Reginald Thomas, R TE Eric Derise
When your a team as great as the Patriots, you rarely need to have roster turnover. However, they improved their passing attack by adding Thomas who is a great route runner and is fast. Derise adds to that TE core, being able to catch and route run.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSy6cKxiPYDsBzQ76kPPP_apLYFSd00Ln17wUfQILInVYXcFFsvYQ
Offseason Additions- TE Delanie Walker, WR Deonte Thompson, RE Michael Johnson, CB Terrance Newman, R ROLB Willie Burns, CB Lorenzo Hawkins
Trust me when I say this, the Raiders had a lot more moves this offseason, but these are important. Delanie Walker is quick, can catch and run block. Thompson is a solid young WR, Johnson has great speed for a DE. Newman is a fast veteran CB who can still cover. Burns is a solid young pass rusher, and Hawkins can cover in man, and is fast.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQd2cFAcxCpVANNSimbmTEKRLIUbSGai4VsqRPgxsSwyOv7Gso1-A
Offseason Additions-WR Brandon Lafell, R TE Dylan Brown, R CB Andrew Smith
Lafell comes in as the Rams #1 WR, can catch and decent speed. Brown is also good at catching, and Smith is quick at the CB position.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR7zZGb6j0B6DPtjEPRB2FxRkHeB5EY3ilD5LChrjuP-t6iVUbQKA
Offseason Additions- WR Greg Little, R DT Jerald Grant
The Ravens had an off year this year, and lost Ray Lewis due to retirement. They added Greg Little, who is a solid young WR with all the tools, just needs more game time. Grant is a big strong DT who is fast at the position as well.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRUwAaBG8o0L6U_ZJq76lOh8pKtXvYphpa-OVL7-c28xxfEacVfGg
Offseason Additions- WR Jerome Simpson, CB Alphonso Smith
Bounty gate couldnt stop the Saints last season, but they still made to key improvements. Simpson is a big upgrade to some of the WRs they have had not named Colston. Simpson is fast and a big play WR. Smith adds depth to a solid CB core for their secondary.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ31bc6jFibhIp1dQ0FJmfbzGaO6GV12g4oL5wbMx1GsQ3Z42AR
Offseason Additions- R LOLB Leonard Washington
Solid pass rusher to add to their LB core

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTX0Epfc_gDQhnV5Wt1yeZAuZxM4aHNJoWyneQ06NK4v4OrE9oUTQ
Offseason Additions-CB Darell Revis, R LG Kain Uvilcoxson

The Steelers had a good year, but not according to their standards. Adding Revis already bolsters one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Kain is a solid all round pass blocker. Bringing back Wallace long term, expect the Steelers to be better next year.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQrKBNRLAC0Gveu5y2nB-f7eavCvEIp7YU2KYr6vRbxxgSEM6Gydw
Offseason Additions-R DT Andre Jackson, MLB Navorro Bowman
The Texans started strong but sputtered towards the end of the season. They traded Andre Johnson for Bowman to help bolster their front seven. Bowman is a great run and pass rusher who is quick and can cover if needed. Jackson is a solid young DT

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQgeYfiYROAne1hgwM5yyqUsqjXxX62ah5VhL2XervZgWWOrGq6eA
    Offseason Additions-R RE Andrew Williams
Williams is a solid power DE, who should help their dline.

    Grinders Offseason Review Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTsh12-vVpa8RJU-K05O5fdyDI7cLFGNQm2ku8HqtMxmnS-M459
Offseason Additions-TE Dustin Keller, DT Nnadamkin Suh, RG Chris Lockhert
Vikings were the worst team last year, so improvements HAD to be made. Dustin Keller is a great TE who will look to be the vocal point of the Vikings passing attack. Suh is a young, elite DT who can play all over the dline. Lockert is a solid run blocker, who will help Peterson.

OK guys, I did all the teams that I think made at least one move that I saw in the offseason. Thanks to Spllf for sending me some info on his team, and if others want to show appreciation for this thread, you can always send me a 1st or 2nd round pick. Winner Happy

For me (Titans), I made a lot of changes. On offense added some depth at offensive line and wide receiver. On defense, changing from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Added LBs Kruger, Siler, Grant and a bunch of young defensive linemen. I am also moving Wimbley to OLB. I just joined the league but I am looking forward to the season. I am happy to be part of a legitimate league and wish you all the best this season.
