After last year's game in Berkley, coach Blaze and the Michigan Wolverines wanted to prove to everyone that performance was a fluke. What they showed was a performance that now makes the trip to South Bend more enticing.

Michigan dominates Cal 51-14 behind a great performance from Adam Murphy and a defense that allowed the offense to score 37 unanswered points.

Cal came out first and the Wolverine defense show it was not playing no games. In the new 3-3-5 set that coach Blaze debuted last week, they forced Cal to punt after a first down on the first play. Then Adam Murphy went 66 yards on the 3rd play to make it 7-0 Michigan. Cal answered right back, putting together a nice drive that ended in a TD pass from Jimmy Ball to Mike Sutherland to tie it at seven. Michigan wasn't playing games though, and on the 2nd play of the drive, Chaz Gates hit Deon Wright on a deep slant and Wright took it 88 yds to make it 14-7 Michigan.

Cal put together another decent drive, and Sutherland took it in from the 1 to make it 14 all. Michigan answered with a drive of it's own, with Gates hitting Ryan Nelson for a 37 yd score to make it 21-14. Cal drove again, but Kevin Cowan forced a fumble around midfield, and Justin Nance scooped it up to give Michigan the ball again. It didn't take long, as Murphy scored his second TD two plays later to make it 28-14. Cal stalled again, and Michigan drove down the field, scoring on a 2 yd run by Derrick Torres to make it 35-14. Cal stalled once more, and Michigan went into halftime with all of the momentum.

Michigan got the ball to start the 2nd half, but Cal forced a 3 & out. Michigan's defense stepped up again, with Cowan getting an INT this time to give Michigan good field position. 5 plays later, Murphy powered his way in from 7 yds out to make it 42-14. After a punt by each team, Cal was on it's 1 yd line, and Michigan stuffed an option in the endzone to make it 44-14.

After the safety punt, Michigan put in it's backups, and Jonathan Murray scored on the 3rd play of the 4th quarter to make it 51-14. Both teams then played it safe as Cal waved the white flag and Michigan walked out with a win.

Murphy was amazing, rushing for 192 yds and 3 TDs on 15 carries. Gates went 8-10 for 230 yds and 2 TDs.

That's a pretty low scoring game as well. Seems defenses are dominating this season.
