Clash of the Titans
GAINESVILLE, Fl. - It's not the 3D sequal to last year's hit film, but the classic rivalry between the second-ranked Florida Gators and the third-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will take on new diminsions this year.
In what could be a potential SEC Championship game preview, the Gators will host the Crimson Tide in a rematch of last year's loss in Tuscaloosa, Ala. This time, Florida will have quarterback John Brantley, who was out with a shoulder injury during last year's game.
"I'm ready to go," Brantley said. "There's been a lot of talk about their 'pro' team. Well, we've got some pretty good players as well."
Brantley is currently ninth in the NCAA in passing with 1045 yards this season. He has 10 touchdowns, four interceptions and is completing 66 percent of his passes.
Florida's strength, however, may be it's running game where Jeff Demps comes in sixth in the nation with 477 yards. Freshman Mike Brown also has 347 for the season.
Alabama also has a potent rushing attack with Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram. Richarson leads the team with 417 yards, but is likely out against Florida. That leaves a big load on former Heisman winner Ingram.
A.J McCarron has brought new life to the Alabama passing game this season, and will look to lighten Ingram's load. He's accounted for 1100 yards and 12 touchdowns, while only turning the ball over four times.
The heat is sure to be up in the swamp according to coach Urban Legend.
"I think we're going to see the best from both of these teams," he stated. "I know they've been gearing up for us, and you better believe that we are geared up for them. All that's left is to play the game."
Kickoff is set for 8:30 eastern time.
