Crimson Tide Continue to Dominate at Bryant-Denny

With the #1 Notre Dame squad coming into Alabama this weekend to play #2 Crimson Tide, anything is possible.

The Crimson Tide defeat Notre Dame 38-31 in a hard fought ground and pound. The Crimson Tide ranked up 305 rushing yards with the Fighting Irish picking up 131 mostly in the hands of QB Jason Hughes.

The game began with the Crimson Tide getting the ball after Notre Dame won the toss and elected to kick. What a mistake that was with Bobby Schmidt putting the team on his shoulders and breaking out a 76 yard run to start the game. The Crimson Tide only needed three more plays to punch in a touchdown giving them a 7-0 lead. With both teams exchanging punts on the next two drives, the Fighting Irish then got on the board with a 40 yard field goal making the difference only 4. The Tide would then take the ball down the field again but only settle for a field goal making the score 10-3 going into the second quarter.

On Notre Dame's next possession they were forced to punt with the Tide defense firing on all cylinders early in the game. This would be costly for The Irish, as Schmidt would extend the lead to 14 points with just under 6 minutes remaining in the half. The half was far from over. Just over a minute later, quarterback Jason Hughes punches a 74 yard touchdown run to narrow the deficit back t 7. "I know if we could stay 14 points ahead, they couldn't catch us", Coach Clark had told me after the game. So that's what they did, with Bobby Schmidt taking the ball 80 yards to the house on the ensuing drive. Teams would exchange punts and a costly turnover by the Irish before the half came to a close.

Starting the third quarter, little time was wasted. The Fighting Irish broke another huge run pounding it in was Jason Hughes again. "We couldn't stop the damn option", Dwight Freeney said after the game. "They were beating us badly with it." The score now 24-17, the Tide wanted to score another touchdown to put them back up 14 points. With K. Thomas breaking a 51 yard run for a score to put the Tide back up 14, they thought the game was in control, little did they know, the Irish were just getting started.

Three seconds into the 4th quarter, the Irish score with a one yard touchdown run by Jason, again. For the next 5 or so minutes, teams would exchange punts and turnovers before the Irish would tie it up with 1:45 remaining. Both teams having all of their timeouts, Manning knew what he had to do, the same thing he did to Florida State last year, complete a winning drive. With Manning having been in this situation before, he knew what had to be done, and with this, hits K. Thomas on a post route who takes it 72 yards for the score. The Tide now up 7 points with 41 seconds remaining knew their defense had to step it up one more time. The Irish started completing big passes, this started quieting the crowd at Bryant-Denny. With one incompletion, the crowd would get louder, more into the game once more. The defense started playing well again, and on the final play of the game, a completion, but with the cover 4 defense, he wasn't going to get into the endzone. The band is on the field.

    ROLL TIDE

    Some stats from the game.

    P. Manning 8/14 179 yards 1 td 1 int
    B. Schmidt 24 carries 243 yards 2 tds
    K. Thomas 4 carries 52 yards 2 tds, 1 catch 72 yards 1 td

    J. Hughes 27/41 315 yards 1 td, 8 carries 102 yards 3 tds
    B. Wood 10 carries 31 yards
    A. Bray 6 catches 84 yards

Insane game Jhawk, thought you had me for sure with that team.

Yeah good game man. As far as my team though, your team is just as good if not better. Especially considering the type of offense you play. With basically all 99's on the line and a 99 HB your running the ball a million times is almost impossible to stop. But it really came down to you getting some critical breaks. That 80 yard TD run by Schmidt where he spun out of a tackle from three guys was huge. The other game changer was my fumble in your territory. Without those two plays the game could've been much different. I just needed to get the lead and then I was pretty much assured that I could pull it out because there was no way you were gonna win if you got taken out of your game and were forced to pass. Unfortunately for me, I could just never get that lead. I'll give you props on that playcall for the passing TD to give you the late lead. I came on a blitz expecting the run and you called it perfectly getting the TD. My guy was an idiot because all he had to do was reach out and knock it down but that's just the way it goes. It also would've helped if the game would've let me call timeout at the end cuz I got tackled with 2 seconds left, but I'm not sure it would've made a difference anyways.

Again, good game. Hopefully this game didn't completely fuck me in recruiting.

Auburn demolishes Ms St. 36-10. The score was no way indicative of how the game went. It probably could have easily been 60+ to 0 if Auburn hadn't turned the ball over on 2 fluke ints. One was a pass tipped into the air and intercepted by a DL. The other was a lil less fluky which was an int that bounced off one of my receivers. I ran 80% of the 2nd half to chew clock as well.

There's not really much to talk about as far as the game goes. My D was lights out holding them to under 150yds of total offense and getting 7 sacks. At one point they had to play their 3rd string Qb because the 1st and 2nd string QB's got knocked out. The Starter did come back just in time to give up a safety.

BTW - Advanced to week 6!!!

    MUST....BEAT....IOWA!!!!

The way Rauloe's season is going, this game could decide the Big 10. I pull off the "upset", we just have to make sure we don't slip up until TSIO week and one more conference loss by Rauloe and we are Pasadena-bound.

Couple things going wrong for me this morning. 1) I woke up to a ticking coming from either my sony or my tv in my room. I think it is my sony, anyone experience the same thing? 2) I was losing to Georgia 24-12 when I was simming the defense and the screen froze, I took a picture just to show everyone. 3)The ticking of my sony goes away when the fan kicks on, can someone help me in regards to this issue? 4)We can sim the game if you guys don't believe me. You may think to yourself, how would I be losing to the number 24 team when I beat the number 1 last night? In football, anything is possible

Yeah...That loss definitely screwed over my recruiting. I lost the 2 guys on my board who I absolutely needed the most. Kind of BS though that I lose the corner because of an away loss to Bama when Penn State lost at home to Iowa and it seemingly had no effect.
