Columbus, OH-- The Longhorns survive a thriller at the horseshoe 31-28 scoring the go ahead TD with :15 seconds left. Backup QB Justin Rice subbed in for a winded Michael Taylor on 4th and long with only :43 seconds remaining. He calmly avoided the pressure and found Alex McKinley open for an 18 yard gain to keep Texas alive. On the next play Rice hit Tim Whitaker for 28 yards down to the two and Deonte Simmons took it in from there.

Rice also made THE throw of the game finding Simmons open for a TD on a fake FG from the 37. The future for Texas looks very bright with #2 taking control of the offense next year.

The game was a total slugfest with 7 scores that either tied the game or took the lead. The first quarter was a hard hitting defensive struggle that ended with the score knotted at 0.

The defenses took a break however as the teams combined to score 31 points in a wild back and forth 2nd quarter.

Texas got on the board first with an option keeper from QB Rob Brooks. Ohio St. Responded just over a minute later with a TD of their own. After a 7 play drive stalled at the buckeye 37 coach STR didn't hesitate to call the fake FG and Rice made a perfect throw to Simmons for the TD.

But just like a villain in a horror movie, Robinson and the buckeyes kept coming back. This time in only 1:03 Robinson picked apart the UT secondary to tie the game with :44 seconds left.

Texas managed to get down to about the Ohio St. 30 and settled for a FG to take the lead at the half. 17-14.

Texas scored first in the second half to take a 10 point lead, but the gritty QB Robinson led his team on another TD drive to cut the lead back to 3. Robinson was sacked three times on the drive but he came up with huge throws to keep the chains moving.

Texas would cling to a 3 point lead going in to the 4th quarter and Ohio st took over with a chance to go ahead for the first time with a TD. Robinson was determined to make that happen. After getting sacked on the first play, Robinson led a long time consuming 13 play drive that ate up most of the 4th quarter. It was a real thing of beauty.

Texas got the ball back with only 1:49 left and two TOs. After getting to about midfield running the ball the Longhorn offense began to stall. On 4th and 8 on the 48 with :43 seconds left and QB Michael Taylor's stamina in the red, coach STR made his 2nd big call of the day sending in Rice to make the 4th down throw. Rice covered 46 yards with his next two passes and that was all she wrote.

A true classic- the Buckeyes played some great football defending their home field. They were playing some inspired ball and were hitting VERY HARD.

    Some key stats

    TEXAS

    Taylor 6-16 87 yds 0 TDs 1 pick
    Rice 3-3 83 yds 1 TD

    Freeman 11 car 124 yds 3 rec 38 yds
    Bush 11 car 83 yds
    Brooks 2 car 2 TD
Simmons 2 car 5 yds gwTD 1 rec 37 yds TD

    Ohio State

    J Robinson 15- 28 315 yds 3 TD no picks
    R gray 6 rec 175 yds 1 TD
    D Tyler 3 rec 43 yds 2 TD
